The heights of abnormal thinking

Posted in General on September 29th, 2007 by Ravi

I was chatting with a friend of mine this afternoon. He was casually asking me what the Sethusamudram project was all about. I explained all that I knew to him, and finally added a comment. Karunanidhi is doing it for fame, and Sonia Gandhi is doing it for power. If Karunanidhi pulls his support for the Congress, Sonia Gandhi would be Gang Raped at the Parliment House.

Is that a fair way to comment about a woman? It could be taken as a joke. But this an abnormal joke. Making fun of the possiblity that a woman would be Gangraped if support for her is withdrawn, does send out some psychic viberations.

Bad, bad me. I certainly am abnormal.

Abnormal. Thats Me.

When did I realize it? Just a few days ago. And before that? My friends knew, but never bothered to tell me.

How do you define Normal? Doing things that everyone else around you does.

What do people around you do? They do what they like.

And what happens when you do what you like? You will be labeled ‘Abnormal’.

How do you define abnormal? A guy who does things the way he likes, and most often succeeds in what he is doing, and never mix with the so called normal people.

What happens if an Abnormal person doesn’t realize that he is abnormal? He feels that nothing around him is right, while the others feel that nothing about him is right.

What happens if an Abnormal person realizes that he is abnormal? He feels right at home.

So when does an abnormal guy go completely insane? When he knows that he is abnormal and starts pretending to be Normal.

Should an Abnormal guy really become Normal? Not necessarily.

What should an abnormal guy do? He should capitalize on his abnormality.

Legal Disclaimer : All above references to ‘Abnormal People’ is limited only to people who are slightly abnormal like Me. Please DO NOT even think about capitalizing on your abnormality if you are a serial killer, a rapist, a molester, a hacker or a spammer, go get yourself admitted in a mental  asylum immediately.

Its finally a BIG Goodbye to Windows

Posted in ubuntu on September 18th, 2007 by Ravi

Having been obsessed by ubuntu recently, I have had nothing to do with Windows since then. Ubuntu is a lot easier than windows and has an attractive list of repositories, so getting a software for any requirement is not that hard.

Well, it is not really that hard for windows users who dare use piratebay.com and demonoid.com like me. Until the anti-piracy laws became so strong in India, my policy was, “If you are against it, pirate it.” I have been against windows since 1995. But unfortunately had to continue using it untill ubuntu came along.

But there was one thing that kept me from getting completely away from windows XP. That was winamp. The famous free music player doesn’t have a linux version. Nor do the plugins. My favorite winamp plugin is enhancer 0.17, and have been using that for the pas 5 or 6 years now. Now the exe would run in Linux.

Wine is a windows emulator for linux, and works perfectly with ubuntu. But in the earlier versions, it didnt support winamp and a few other handful bunch of softwares. The latest version supports that, and now I can finally delete the windows that lies in my virtualbox and say goodbye to Bill for ever. I still think I miss Age of Empires and Age of Mythology a little bit, but Im sure something will come up for that as well.
