My blog is a big bag of bullshit. And I don’t promote it much. People who read my blog often know that very well. I write complete bullshit. Nobody cares. I know that. But my blog does manage to get visitors once in a while because of the few tech stuff that I have in here. Linux buffs like my blog. Select posts if not the whole blog.
Well, Im not the worst. I do know a lot of people who write more bullshit that I do, and keep their blog on the top of the searches. How is that done? SEO. Search Engine Optimization.
Doing it manually is a tough job. It would take a lifetime to optimize one blog manually. And I have 27 blogs, and only 1 life. How do I still stay in business? I have a huge array of seo tools installed in my computer and servers, without which I would have been just another stupid software engineer working at some stupid company making a few hundred thousand rupees a year.
My brother, as always, sent me a link a few days ago, to a site called good reads. If you are a good reader, and you read a lot of ‘books’, and not just stick around wikipedia to call yourself to be a good reader, then this site is for you. Register on the site, and here you can search for any book that has got an isbn number with the name of the book or the author’s name, and you can rate the book with 1 to 5 starts, mark it as read, reading or to read, and share it with your friends.
This should be fun, to find out how your friends rate a book that you have read and rated. You can atleast use it to show off the number of books that you have read in your lifetime, or atleast remember reading. I have read a good number of books in the past 15 years, but unfortunately, I remember names of only 80 of them.
Daily updates of all your friends are sent to your mail, and your updates are naturally sent to all of your friends too. Since it is a new site, and not being very popular, sending these mails are the only good way to make the members coming back to the site every day.
